O
foco do festival de 2020 foi também complementado por um colóquio
digital sobre A Mulher na BD: Uma perspectiva Europeia.
UMA
JANELA COM VISTA PARA O MUNDO
Desde
muito cedo, a banda desenhada portuguesa teve sempre mulheres
artistas nas suas fileiras. É impossível percorrer a história da
banda desenhada portuguesa sem citar os nomes de Bixa, Manuela
Torres, Maria Teresa Andrade Santos ou Raquel Roque Gameiro. Ou Alice
Geirinhas, Ana Cortesão, Catherine Labey, Isabel Lobinho, etc.
Na
verdade, existem muitas vozes variadas no feminino. Cada uma com seu
próprio corpo e respiração… Na última década, esse número
cresceu exponencialmente. Tão exponencial que é impossível dar um
panorama geral da produção realizada por mulheres artistas em tão
curto espaço. Deixamo-vos apenas a visão de 15 das muitas dezenas
de mulheres que abrem janelas para o mundo tendo a história em
quadrinhos como ponto de partida. Todas elas expuseram o seu trabalho
no Festival Internacional de Banda Desenhada de Beja, principalmente
em exposições individuais…
At
the invitation of author/director of Beja Comics Library, Paulo
Monteiro, I will be part of this year's Portuguese exhibition at the
11th Fête de la BD – Brussels Feest, or Brussels Comics Strip
Festival. The show, organized by the Portuguese Embassy in Brussels
and Beja Comics Library, in partnership with the Camões Institute, is held from September 10th to 20th and is titled "A Window with a View to to the World,” which includes
15 contemporary portuguese female comic authors. The exhibition can
be visited in FêtedelaBD-Portugal, where two pages are available
from each author, along with their respective biographies and videos
with personal testimonials.
“A
Window with a View to the World” brings together comcis by Bárbara Lopes,
Carla Rodrigues, Inês Cóias, Joana Afonso, Joana Mosi, Maria João
Worm, Marta Teives, Patrícia Guimarães, Raquel Costa, Rita
Alfaiate, Silvia Rodrigues, Sofia Neto, Sónia Oliveira, Susa

The
focus of the 2020 festival was also complemented by a digital round
table on “Women in Comics: A European perspective.”
A
WINDOW WITH A VIEW TO THE WORLD
From
a very early age, Portuguese comics always had women artists in their
ranks. It is impossible to go through the history of Portuguese
comics without mentioning the names of Bixa, Manuela Torres, Maria
Teresa Andrade Santos or Raquel Roque Gameiro. Or Alice Geirinhas,
Ana Cortesão, Catherine Labey, Isabel Lobinho, etc.
In
fact, there are so many varied voices in the feminine. Each with its
own body and breathing… In the last decade, this number has grown
exponentially. So exponential that it is impossible to give a general
overview of the production carried out by women artists in such a
short space. We leave you only the view of 15 out of many dozens of
women who open windows to the world with the comic strip as a
starting point. They all have exposed their work at the International
Comics Festival of Beja, mainly in individual exhibitions…
