Com 2026 a acelerar, eis o meu plano de actividades para o ano:

A principal meta é publicar o 2º livro de infância. Este é o segundo que ilustro mas será o primeiro que edito, e marca também a estreia dos escritores. Sonho (título provisório) narra as aventuras de um casal de jovens amigos que divagam nas suas imaginações durante as brincadeiras de criança, do acordar ao deitar.
Iniciado recentemente, outro trabalho de ilustração é um projecto internacional de cariz didático e histórico, sobre as Guerras Persas, que derivou da abordagem inicial em banda desenhada. Os trabalhos ainda agora começaram, pelo que é incerto quando será publicado.

Quanto a BD, no 1º semestre regresso ao mundo ficcional de José de Matos-Cruz, para voltar a ilustrar a Aurora Boreal em O Infante Portugal e Os Signos Perpétuos, que reedita e expande o multipremiado comic de 2017, com Daniel Maia e Daniel Henriques, e participações especiais por mestres portugueses. A lógica será a mesma: sou incumbida de ilustrar as sequência mais etéreas, que tomam lugar no véu mágico além da nossa realidade.

Ainda este ano será editado Mala-Posta, de Daniel Maia, que celebra a criação do serviço postal em Portugal. Embora criado com objectivo didático, trata-se de aventura estilo western passada na Era Vitoriana, para o qual criei algumas ilustrações e colori a capa.
De resto, espero editar o meu primeiro álbum – talvez em 2027, caso os restantes trabalhos me tomem demasiado tempo –, que será uma retrospectiva antológica feitas em parceria com vários argumentistas e outras feitas a solo.

Paralelamente, continuo a colaborar em produções editoriais enquanto avanço noutros projectos de longa gestação.

With 2026 speeding by, here's my activity plan for the year:

The main goal is to publish the 2nd children's book. This is the second one I've illustrated, but it will be the first one released, and it also marks the debut of the writers. Dream (working title) narrates the adventures of a young couple of friends who wander in their imaginations during childhood games, from waking up to going to sleep.

Another illustration project, recently started, is an international educational and historical project about the Persian Wars, which stemmed from the initial approach in comics. The work has only just begun, so it's uncertain when it will be published.

As for comics, in the 1st half of the year I'll return to the fictional world of José de Matos-Cruz, to again illustrate Aurora Boreal, in The Infante Portugal and The Perpetual Signs, which reprints and expands the multi award-winning 2017 comic, with Daniel Maia and Daniel Henriques, and special appearances by Portuguese masters. The logic will be the same: I am tasked with illustrating the most ethereal sequences, which take place in the magical veil beyond our reality.

Later this year, Daniel Maia’s Mala-Posta by will be published, celebrating the creation of the postal service in Portugal. Although created with an educational purpose, it is a Western-style adventure set in the Victorian Era, for which I created some illustrations and colored the cover.

Furthermore, I hope to publish my first book – perhaps in 2027, if other projects take up too much of my time – which will be an anthological retrospective of comics done in partnership with various writers and others created by myself.

At the same time, I continue to collaborate on editorial productions while advancing on other long-gestating projects.

O Deus Selvagem – Legendagem & Paginação / Lettering & Book Design

Já está disponível outro título da Ala dos Livros que legendei e paginei no ano passado, O Deus Selvagem, de Fabien Vehlmann (arg.) e Roger Ibanez (desenho). Este livro é uma edição especial da Ala dos Livros, pois a editora optou pela versão preto-e-branco da obra, que assim melhor destaca o excelente trabalho de desenho do ilustrador espanhol, que aqui se estreia editorialmente em Portugal. O álbum é completado por um caderno de extras a cores.

Viaje até à era longínqua do Dilúvio, em que um jovem macaco órfão procura provar o seu valor ao seu clã adoptivo, caçando um velho jacaré ferido e cruel. Comer ou ser comido – o ciclo imutável da natureza. Mas ao ousar aventurar-se no coração das terras proibidas, as dos humanos, enfrenta o mais cruel dos destinos: ver o seu povo massacrado diante dos seus olhos, antes de ser capturado e treinado nas arenas do Império para se tornar um "Deus-Selvagem", um guerreiro sagrado moldado para a violência e a arte do combate. São sobretudo esses longos anos de sofrimento que alimentarão nele uma obsessão ardente: a vingança contra os seus captores, a qualquer custo.

Another title from Ala dos Livros that I lettered and book designer last year is now available, The Savage God, by Fabien Vehlmann (script) and Roger (illustration). This book is a special edition from Ala dos Livros, as the publisher opted for the black-and-white version of the work, which better highlights the excellent artwork by the Spanish illustrator, that makes is making his editorial debut in Portugal. The graphic novel is completed by a section of colored extras.

Travel to the distant era of the Flood, where a young orphaned monkey seeks to prove his worth to his adoptive clan by hunting an old, wounded and cruel alligator. Eat or be eaten – the immutable cycle of nature. But by daring to venture into the heart of the forbidden lands, those of humans, he faces the cruelest of fates: to see his people massacred before his eyes, before being captured and trained in the arenas of the Empire to become a "Savage God", a sacred warrior molded for violence and the art of combat. It is primarily these long years of suffering that will fuel in him a burning obsession: revenge against his captors, at any cost.

Blast Integral 1 – Legendagem / Lettering

Na segunda metade do ano passado, tive oportunidade de trabalhar num dos maiores lançamentos da Ala dos Livros - as edições integrais de Blast, por Manu Lacernet. Li pela primeira vez um trabalho de Lacernet com o alucinado Os Cosmonautas do Futuro, mas confesso que prefiro as obras mais recentes da sua carreira, que o projectaram para fama internacional.
A obra original é composta por 4 volumes, que a Ala dos Livros compila em dois tomos integrais, sendo considerada a grande obra da vida do autor. Cada livro a preto/branco tem +400 páginas, com PVP 50€.

Polza Manzini é uma massa incrível que pesa mais de 150 quilos. Certo dia, decide virar costas à sua vida anterior para partir em busca do “Blast”, a explosão, aquele momento breve de perfeição, um flash improvável que por vezes lhe ocorre quando, esquecendo a sua gordura, ele consegue voar. Polza passou os últimos meses completamente bêbado, a vagabundear como um sem abrigo. A determinada altura, é preso como principal suspeito de um assassinato. Como é que isso aconteceu? A sua história é pouco plausível, mas tudo começou com essa explosão mental devastadora a que Polza chama “Blast”.

In the second half of last year, I had the opportunity to work on one of Ala dos Livros' biggest releases – the complete editions of Blast, by Manu Lacernet. I read Lacernet's work for the first time with the whimsical The Cosmonauts of the Future, but I confess that I prefer his career’s more recent works, which propelled him to international fame.
The original work consists of 4 books, which Ala dos Livros compiles into two volumes, considered the greatest work of the author's life. Each black and white book has +400 pages, with a retail price of €50.

Polza Manzini is an incredible mass weighing over 150 kilos. One day, he decides to turn his back on his previous life to set off in search of the "Blast," the explosion, that brief moment of perfection, an improbable flash that sometimes occurs to him when, forgetting his fat, he manages to fly. Polza has spent the last few months completely drunk, wandering like a homeless person. At one point, he is arrested as the prime suspect in a murder. How did this happen? His story is implausible, but it all began with that devastating mental breakdown that Polza calls "Blast".

 

2025 em Revisão | 2025 in Review

2026 começa com revisão das actividades passadas: Em 2025, o ano ficou marcado por trabalho de produção de livros, uma actividade que venho a realizar desde 2021 e na qual já me considero profissional, no total tendo legendado e/ou paginado 25 livros (na realidade 35, se considerar que alguns títulos são edições integrais e compilam várias obras). Para além da colaboração continuada com a Devir, estreei-me ainda nas editoras Ala dos Livros e Levoir.

2025 começou com The Walking Dead: Livro 5, o primeiro volume que fiz na totalidade, e depois tive o privilégio de estrear a Colecção Angouléme, com nova produção do clássico Trilogia Nikopol e Alack Sinner: Bófia ou Detective. O primeiro trabalho para Ala dos Livros foi uma empreitada complexa, pois tive de remasterizar as páginas do Pedro Nascimento e a seguir fazer tudo o resto, em Tales from Nevermore, que acabou por obter o Prémio Revelação do 36º AmadoraBD; e o primeiro serviço para a Levoir revelou-se um esforço inglório, em Os Lusíadas II, pois acabou por não ser reproduzido como devia.
O 2º semestre trouxe The Walking Dead: Livro 6 e Anäis Nin: No Mar das Mentiras, pela Devir, mais Blacksad Stories: Weekly, pela Ala dos Livros, e Cadáver Esquisito!, pela Arga Warga. Por lançar, ficaram Blast: Integral 1/2, O Deus Selvagem e Kiki de Montparnasse.

A nível criativo, tive o prazer de ver o livro em que colaborei, Abril, Cravos Mil, vencer mais um prémio de Melhor Antologia, no 22º Troféus Central Comics, e de regressar ao programa do FIBDB, com a exposição ‘Cadáver Esquisito!’, bem como a formações, com ‘Histórias aos Quadrinhos’, na Biblioteca Municipal São Domingos de Rana.
Por fim, para além da edição de Cadáver Esquisito!, em que Daniel Maia recuperou o webcomic concluído há dez anos, retomei a parceria com ele ao colorir “As Raízes do Invisível”, a BD curta escrita por Hugo Pinto que abriu a antologia inVISÍVEIS, da CerciOeiras.

Enquanto durante todo o ano avancei no livro ilustrado que tenho vindo a produzir, a recta final de 2025 trouxe-me um primeiro trabalho internacional, em que ilustro cenas míticas da antiguidade. O ano concluiu com a participação no III Beja Horrível, promovido pela Bedeteca de Beja, mas há muito mais para destacar em 2026.

2026 begins with a review of past activities: In 2025, the year was marked by book designs, an activity I have been doing since 2021 and at which I already consider myself a professional, having lettered and/or designed 25 books in total (actually 35, if you consider that some titles are editions that compiles several works). In addition to the continued collaboration with Devir, I also started working with publishers Ala dos Livros and Levoir.

2025 began with The Walking Dead: Book 5, the first volume I did completely, and afterward I had the privilege of debuting the Angouléme Collection, with a new production of the classic Nikopol Trilogy and Alack Sinner: Cop or Detective. The first work for Ala dos Livros was a harrowing undertaking, as I had to remaster Pedro Nascimento's pages and then do everything else, in Tales from Nevermore, which ended up winning the Revelation Award at the 36th AmadoraBD; And the first work for Levoir proved to be a thankless endeavor, in The Lusíadas II, as it ended up not being reproduced as it should have been.
The 2nd semester brought The Walking Dead: Book 6 and Anäis Nin: In the Sea of Lies, by Devir, plus Blacksad Stories: Weekly, by Ala dos Livros, and Weird Corpse!, by Arga Warga. Yet to be released are Blast: Integral 1/2, The Savage God and Kiki de Montparnasse.

On a creative level, I had the pleasure of seeing the book I collaborated on, April, Carnation Showers, win another Best Anthology award at the 22nd Central Comics Trophies, and returning to the FIBDB program with the exhibition ‘Weird Corpse!’, as well as training with ‘Comics Strips’ at the São Domingos de Rana Municipal Library.
Finally, in addition to the release of Weird Corpse!, in which Daniel Maia revived the webcomic completed ten years ago, I resumed my partnership with him by coloring “Roots of the Invisible,” a short comic written by Hugo Pinto that opened the anthology inVISÍVEIS, released by CerciOeiras.

While throughout the year I advanced on the illustrated book I've been producing, the final stretch of 2025 brought me my first international project, in which I illustrate mythical scenes of antiquity. And the year concluded with a participation in the III Beja Horrível, promoted by the Beja Comics Library, but there is much more to come in 2026.
