O
meu percurso profissional nas artes gráficas tem sido variado.
Autodidata em Desenho,
comecei a minha formação académica na Sociedade Nacional de Belas
Artes em ‘Introdução ao Desenho’, que precedeu a licenciatura
em Pintura,
na Faculdade de Belas Artes de Lisboa, complementada por formações
extra
em
Escultura,
Vitrinismo,
Informática
e Competências
Pedagógicas.
Na
prática, depois de estagiar numa área tão especializada como Arte
Terapia,
percorri o país em galerias de pintura e em bienais, até abordar a
Banda
Desenhada.
Neste segmento, fiz BDs curtas e orientei Formações,
com um programa original criado por mim, que tiveram enorme sucesso. Também fiz trabalhos de Ilustração,
brevemente na área publicitária e mais frequentemente na
vertente editorial, ilustrando livros, cartazes e cartas de jogar,
adicionando depois o Design
Visual
ao arsenal criativo. Dali, foi um salto até enveredar em
Balonagem/Legendagem
e Grafismo
de livros.
A
experiência teve início com as edições da
Apenas Livros em cartas de jogar (Gatos
Baralhados,
Baralhas
de Cães,
Aves
de Portugal Continental,
Xilogravura
Portuguesa,
A
Dança dos Mortos,
Cartas
na Mãe Diabo no Coração

em que também providenciei as legendagens (O
Caso do Quarto Fechado,
Crime
e A
Morte de Dom João),
e mais recentemente nas antologias Aurora
Boreal em Reflexos Partilhados,
de Arga Warga/Kafre, e em Abril,
Cravos Mil,
do grupo TágIIde.
Em
breve, são publicados os volumes integrais The Walking Dead que legendei para a editora Devir. A colecção popularizada por
Robert Kirkman e Charlie Addlard regressou no início do ano a
Portugal com reedição do Livro
1,
com os tomos originais 1 a 4, e continuou em Março e Junho,
respectivamente com o Livro
2 e Livro
3. A minha prestação começa a meio do Livro
4,
nomeadamente nos tomos 15 e 16, previsto para final do verão, e
depois na totalidade do Livro
5
(tomos 17 a 20), em
data a anunciar.
A minha experiência em legendagem vai estender-se a mais produções,
no entanto. Mais notícias em breve.
Mas
isto não significa que me tenha afastado da faceta criativa. Em simultâneo, estou a ilustrar o meu 2º livro
de infância,
após o qual retomo o meu projecto de BD autoral.
My
professional career in graphic arts has been varied. Self-taught in
Drawing, I began my academic training at the National Society of Fine
Arts in 'Introduction to Drawing', which preceded my graduation in
Painting, at the Lisbon Faculty of Fine Arts, complemented by
extra training in Sculpture, Vitrinism, IT and Pedagogical
Skills.
In
practice, after interning in an area as specialized as Art Therapy, I
traveled the country around painting galleries and biennials, until I
approached Comics. In this segment, I created short comics and taught in Formations, with an original program I created, which were hugely
successful. I also did Illustration work, briefly in
the advertising field and more frequently in the editorial field,
illustrating books, posters and descks of playing cards, later adding Visual
Design to my creative arsenal. From there, it was a leap to embark on
Ballooning/Lettering and on Book Design.
The
experience began with the editions of Apenas Livros in playing cards
(Shuffled Cats, Dogs Shuffles, Birds of Continental Portugal,
Portuguese Woodcuts, Danse Macabre, Cards in hand Devil in heart, and Portuguese Animal Proverbs) and in books (Animals in
Proverbs), in fanzines Outras Bandas (#4-9) for the Tágide collective,
in books by Kustom Rats (The Implosion – A Graphic Novel and the
collection Quaresma, the Deciferer), in which I also provided the
balloning (The Case of the Locked Room, Crime and The Death of Don Jon), and more recently in the anthologies Aurora Boreal em
Shared Reflexions, by Arga Warga/Kafre, and in April, Carnation Showers,
by TágIIde.
Soon,
the complete volumes of The Walking Dead that I subtitled for the portuguese version by publisher Devir will be released. The collection popularized by
Robert Kirkman and Charlie Addlard returned to Portugal at the
start of the year with the reissue of Book 1, which compiles the
original volumes 1 to 4, and continued in March and June,
respectively with Book 2 and Book 3. My participation begins halfway throug Book 4, namely in volumes
15 and 16, scheduled for the end of the summer, and then in the
entirety of Book 5 (volumes 17 to 20), which release date is yet to be announced. My
experience in lettering will extend to more productions, however.

But
this does not mean I moved away from creative endeavours.
At the same time, I am illustrating my 2nd childrens' book, after
which I will resume my personal graphic novel project.
