Gatos Baralhados - 2a Edição / 2nd Print

A convite da editora Apenas Livros, que tem diversificado o seu catálogo com a produção de baralhos de cartas ilustrados, de momento divididos nas colecções Autor e Património, criei em 2018 o meu primeiro baralho autoral, Gatos Baralhados, a que se seguiu, um ano depois, o Baralhas de Cães. Ambos os artigos, com 56 ilustrações individuais cada qual, têm sido um sucesso comercial, e é com prazer que destaco a 2ª edição de Gatos Baralhados, concretizada no começo do último trimestre de 2019.

Os baralhos estão disponíveis para compra online através da editora e CustoJusto, ou em pontuais eventos literários e culturais, na rede de lojas da Casa da Moeda e em museus por todo o país.

Ainda incrédula com a recepção a este trabalho, que é o meu primeiro pequeno “best-seller” e uma reedição por esgotamento de tiragem, resta-me agradecer à editora Fernanda Frazão e aos fãs que adquiriram o item!

At the invitation of publisher Apenas Livros, that has diversified its catalog by producing illustrated decks of cards, currently divided into Heritage and Author collections, I created in 2018 my first illustrated deck of cards, Gatos Baralhados/Shuffled Cats, which a year later was followed by Baralhas de Cães/Dogs Shuffles. Both items, with 56 individual illustrations each, have been a commercial success, and I am pleased to announce the 2nd edition of Shuffled Cats, which was accomplished in 2019's final quarter.

The decks of cards are available for purchase online through the publisher or CustoJusto, and at occasional literary and cultural events, as well as at Casa da Moeda stores chain and in museums across Portugal.

Still incredulous with the reception to this work, which is my first small “bestseller” and reprint due to a sold-out, I can only thank publisher Fernanda Frazão and the fans who have purchased the item!

2019 em Revisão | 2019 in Review

Bom Ano Novo! Tal como nos anos anteriores, retomo as publicações no blogue com um rescaldo das actividades e pontos-altos do ano transacto.

Profissionalmente, realizei o 3º curso de banda desenhada no Montijo, Iniciação à Arte Sequencial, que meu deu imenso gozo e foi um sucesso a nível de aproveitamento dos formandos, e fui convidada a preparar workshops de BD para outras entidades, como no 13º BDteca – Salão de BD de Odemira e outros eventos. No 13º BDteca, onde expus trabalhos em BD na exposição Susana Resende aos Quadradinhos, tive ainda oportunidade de integrar um júri de concurso de BD pela primeira vez. Especialmente agradável por ter, nos vencedores, uma ex-formanda do 1º Iniciação à Arte Sequencial!

Entre outras homenagens, expus ainda ilustrações infanto-juvenis no II Barreiro IlustraBD e na colectiva de artes Origem(s), na Galeria Municipal do Montijo, até regressar ao 30º Amadora BD, onde integrei a mostra de tributo a Geraldes Lino (1936-2019).

Ainda em eventos da especialidade, apresentei no XV FIBDB o colectivo de BD que co-fundei, Tágide, e voltei a marcar presença no Artists Alley do CCPT, para o qual ilustrei três prints exclusivos. A fechar o ano, voltei também à Tertúlia BD de Lisboa, onde apresentámos mais iniciativas editoriais do Tágide.

A nível editorial, fora ilustrar as capas das antologias Outras Bandas editadas por Tágide, ilustrei o meu 2º baralho de cartas ilustrado, Baralhas de Cães – que foi um sucesso de vendas, felizmente, tal como o anterior Gatos Baralhados, que esgotou e teve recentemente uma 2a edição – e comecei a trabalhar num 3º, intitulado Aves de Portugal Continental, que será lançado em breve.

Em 2020, regresso às lides da BD em projectos de maior fôlego, como colorista e autora ;) Até breve!

Happy New Year! As in previous years, I return to these blog posts with an aftermath of last year's activities and highlights.

Professionally, I conducted the 3rd Montijo's comics course, Initiation to Sequential Art, which I enjoyed a lot and was a great success regarding the students takeaway, and I was invited to prepare comics workshops for other entities, such as the 13th BDteca – Odemira Comics Festival and others. At the 13th BDteca, where I exhibited comics artworks in the Susana Resende in Squares exhibition, I also had the opportunity for the first time to join the jury in a comics competition. It was especially nice to have there, amogst the winners, an ex-student from my 1st Sequential Art Initiation!

Among other honors, I also exhibited children books illustrations at the II Barreiro IlustraBD and in the Origin(s) arts collective, at Montijo Municipal Gallery, and later I returned to the 30th Amadora BD, where I took part in the Geraldes Lino (1936-2019) tribute exhibition.

Still in comics events, I also presented at XV FIBDB the comics collectivity that I co-founded, Tágide, and was again present at CCPT's Artists Alley, for which I illustrated three exclusive prints. Closing out the year, I also returned to Lisbon Comics Gathering, where we presented more editorial initiatives by the Tágide group.

On an editorial level, I illustrated covers for the Outras Bandas comics anthologies published by Tágide, illustrated my 2nd illustrated deck of cards, Dog Shuffles – which was a big hit, thankfully, just like my previous Shuffled Cats deck of cards, which sold out and recently had a 2nd print – and I started working on a 3rd, titled Birds of Continental Portugal, which will be released soon.

For 2020, I will make a comeback in comics on major projects, as both a colorist and as solo artist ;) See you soon!
