Este
trabalho de legendagem conclui a colaboração com a Devir Editora na
Colecção Angouléme, que igualmente tive o prazer de iniciar
com A Trilogia Nikopol. A colecção apresentou obras
clássicas e inéditas ao público português, e eu contribuí para a
produção de metade delas.
Este volume, Kiki de Montparnasse, por Catel Muller e José-Loius Bocquet, vencedor do Prémio do Público no FIBDA ‘2008, será um livro a não perder para os amantes de banda desenhada explicita e de teor maduro, representanto ainda a estética alternativa da nova BD europeia do virar do século.
Kiki foi uma artista de cabaret e pintora, famosa por frequentar os círculos boémios de Montparnasse no início do séc. XX, onde conheceu artistas como Chaim Soutine, Jean Cocteau, Amedeo Modigliani, Man Ray e Alexander Calder, entre muitos outros. Uma das primeiras mulheres emancipadas em relação aos constrangimentos culturais e sexuais impostos pela sociedade da altura, tornou-se a musa de muitos artistas e companheira de Man Ray, que a imortalizou numa das suas obras mais icónicas, ‘Le Violon d’Ingres’. Foi símbolo da liberdade feminina numa época de intenso despertar artístico.
Neste livro, publicado originalmente em 2007, o escritor José-Louis Bocquet e o artista Catel Muller relatam, de forma inteligente e sensível, a história de uma artista carismática, que contribuiu de forma inegável para uma das épocas mais estimulantes e criativas do século. This lettering work concludes my collaboration with Devir Editora on the Angouléme Collection, which I also had the pleasure of debuting with The Nikopol Trilogy. The collection presented both classic and unpublished works to the Portuguese public, and I contributed to the production of half of them.

Kiki was a cabaret artist and painter, famous for frequenting the bohemian circles of Montparnasse in the early 20th century, where she met artists such as Chaim Soutine, Jean Cocteau, Amedeo Modigliani, Man Ray and Alexander Calder, among many others. One of the first women to be emancipated from the cultural and sexual constraints imposed by the society of the time, she became the muse of many artists and the companion of Man Ray, who immortalized her in one of his most iconic works, 'Le Violon d'Ingres'.
