Sinner – Bófia ou Detetive,
a história passa-se em Nova Iorque, onde vive Alack Sinner, um
ex-polícia que bebe muito mas que é fundamentalmente correcto e
pouco complacente com a corrupção dos que o rodeiam. Nesta BD pulp
noir,
é apresentado um relato espirituoso mas também crítico e
desencantado sobre uma sociedade fanática, racista, ganaciosa, que
nos remete para autores como Raymond Chandler ou Chester Gould.
Criado
por José Muñoz e Carlos Sampayo, Alack
Sinner
aproxima-se do noir
clássico, mas com um tom humanista e reflexivo, levando o detetive
nova-iorquino a envolver-se em casos que refletem questões sociais e
políticas. A violência e a luta por justiça são temas centrais,
com o traço expressivo e contrastante de Muñoz a complementar a
atmosfera densa e realista da obra, tornando-a muito mais do que um
policial – um retrato crítico daquela sociedade.
A minha intervenção como legendadora exigiu-me uma atenção diferente, devido aos requisitos específicos para uma banda desenhada a P/B.

the release of The Nikopol Trilogy, the 2nd European graphic novel
that I lettered for Devir is now available: the first compilation of
Alack Sinner, by the duo Muñoz and Sampayo. A work never before
published in Portugal.
In Alack Sinner – Cop or Detective, the story takes place in New York, where Alack Sinner lives, an ex-cop who drinks a lot but is fundamentally correct and not very lenient with the corruption of those around him. This pulp noir comic presents a witty but also critical and disenchanted account of a fanatical, racist, greedy society, which reminds us of authors such as Raymond Chandler or Chester Gould.
Created by José Muñoz and Carlos Sampayo, Alack Sinner approaches classic noir, but with a humanist and reflective tone, leading the New York detective to get involved in cases that reflect social and political issues. Violence and the fight for justice are central themes, with Muñoz's expressive and contrasting style complementing the dense and realistic atmosphere of the work, making it much more than a police procedural – a critical portrait of that society.
My intervention as a lettered required a different attention, due to the specific requirements for a black and white eurocomic.
