This is the process of building a portrait for a commissioned that I was asked to do. A portrait is always something destined to the person depicted or his relatives and friends, hence the responsability of capturing more than just the likeness - the spirit of the person is what's essential. And if you achieve that, then the satisfaction of he who sees himself in the artwork or the feeling of recognizing the loved one in the picture are the greatest of compliments.
Like Ingre said to his disciples: "It is necessary to study and observe the 'poses' which are common in every age. In movements, there is always a contour that is more important than another. An artist must have an eye on everything, put everything at the same time until the last moment, harmonize and get everything right."
