Barreiro IlustraBD: Exposição / Exhibit

Entre 1 de Setembro e 14 de Outubro, terei uma selecção de BD e Ilustração patentes no Barreiro Ilustra BD, criado através da parceria entre o autor João Raz (blogue Desenhos, Inks & Rabiscos), a Câmara Municipal de Barreiro e AMAC (Auditório Municipal Augusto Cabrita), naquela cidade. A colectiva que ficará patente no local conta com 38 autores portugueses e será complementada por um Encontro de Autores no dia 22 de Setembro, durante o qual os visitantes podem conhecer os artistas, obter autógrafos e adquirir edições, arte original ou merchandize.
O acesso é gratuito e a mostra pode ser visitada no horário de expediente. No Encontro de Autores, as actividades decorrem entre as 16h-22h.

Between September 1st and October 14th, I will have a selection of Comics and Illustration artworks in Barreiro Ilustra BD, created through a partnership between author João Raz (blog Desenhos, Inks & Rabiscos), the Municipality of Barreiro and AMAC (Municipal Auditorium Augusto Cabrita), in that city. The collective exhibit that will be displayed there features 38 Portuguese authors and will be complemented by an Authors' Meeting on September 22, during which visitors can get to know the artists, get autographs and purchase editions, prints, original art or merchandize.

Access is free and the show can be visited during office hours. At the Authors' Meeting, the activities will take place between 16h-22h.

2º Iniciação à Arte Sequencial - Conclusão / Conclusion

Em maior rotação do que no 1º curso, que concluiu há mês e meio, o II Iniciação à Arte Sequencial terminou há duas semanas, após a conclusão da fase de atelier da iniciativa, durante a qual os alunos foram convidados a desenvolver uma obra curta em banda desenhada, sob o meu acompanhamento, para serem posteriormente publicadas na antológica que a Câmara Municipal do Montijo irá tutelar.

Embora estejamos em pleno verão, os formandos, na maioria alunos do ensino secundário, mostraram grande motivação para serem introduzidos aos conceitos básicos da narrativa sequencial e esmeraram-se por realizar os exercícios propostos, o que me assegura que vão consolidar conhecimentos neste último desafio, enquanto acabam as respectivas BDs.

A encerrar o atelier, os alunos – assim como os formandos do curso original – tiveram a oportunidade de privar com o autor Paulo Monteiro, também director da Bedeteca de Beja, que veio ao Montijo realizar um colóquio sobre o seu percurso em BD e processo criativo. Entre demonstrações das suas técnicas de produção, os alunos puderam também ver de perto diversas pranchas originais. No geral, um final de tarde bem passado, que encerrou o curso com chave-de-ouro e, espero, tenha inspirado todos os presentes!

At a greater speed than the first course, completed a month and a half ago, the 2nd Initiation to Sequential Art ended a couple of weeks back, after the conclusion of the initiative's workshop phase, during which the students were invited to develop a short comics story alongside my supervision, to be later fitted in the anthology publication that Montijo's Municipality will publish.

Although it took place in the summertime, the participants, mostly high shool students, showed great motivation to be introduced to the basic concepts of sequential narrative and put forth great effort to carry out the proposed exercises, which assures me that all the knowledge will consolidate in this last challenge, while they finish their respective comics.

 

To conclude the workshop, the students – as well as the attendants of the original course – had the opportunity to meet author Paulo Monteiro, also director of Bedeteca de Beja, who came to Montijo for a colloquium about his background in comics and creative process. Between demonstrations of production techniques, the students were also able to see closely several original artboards. All in all, it was a great afternoon, that wrapped up the course in style and, hopefully, left everyone inspired!
