BD Curta / Short Comic: #4 – 24

A minha 4ª banda desenhada foi a primeira que desenhei com argumento doutro autor. Aconteceu ao ser convidada pelo escritor André Oliveira para participar na sua rubrica mensal na revista CAIS (#212), que consistia em duas páginas em disposição dupla/spread. Sendo a edição de Dezembro, a temática foi natalícia e, numa situação igualmente inédita para mim, tratou-se de uma narrativa silênciosa.

Intitulado “24,” o André optou por ser descritivo no argumento, dado nunca termos colaborado antes e por eu ainda ser estreante no sector, mas foi entusiasmante criar os raccords visuais entre as vinhetas e ligar as várias cenas numa sequência global.

A nível técnico, voltei a desenhar tradicionalmente numa prancha (formato A4) e colori digitalmente em Photoshop. Neste trabalho, levei em consideração o tipo de papel em que a revista é publicada, poroso, e favoreci um desenho com mancha em grafite e cores digitais soltas, por serem melhor reproduzidas naquele suporte.

“24” foi reeditada em 2018 na antologia Almanaque: Curtas de BD, da editora Bicho Carpinteiro. Esta reproduziu a 2ª metade de 'curtas que o André escreveu na CAIS, assim como algumas BDs inéditas. Para além de estar presente na apresentação na Casa da Cultura de Setúbal, também intervi na sessão no festival 29º Amadora BD, onde participei na respectiva sessão de autógrafos.

My 4th short comic was the first one I drew with a script by another author. It happened when I was invited by writer André Oliveira to participate in her monthly series in magazine CAIS (# 212), which consisted of two pages in double spread display. Being the December edition, the theme was Christmas and, in an equally unprecedented situation for me, it was a silent narrative.

Titled “24,” André chose to be descriptive in the script, since we hadn´t collaborated before and because I was still a newcomer in the medium, but it was exciting to create the visual raccords between the panels and connect the various scenes into a global sequence.

In a technical level, I went back to traditionally drawing on a board (A4 format) and digitally colored it in Photoshop. In this work, I took into account the type of paper on which the magazine is published, which is porous and newspaper-like, and therefore I favored a drawing with graphite stains and loose digital colors, as these would print better on that support.

“24” was republished in 2018 in the anthology Almanaque: Curtas de BD/Almanac: Short Comics, by indie publisher Bicho Carpinteiro. This book reproduced the second half of 'shorts that André wrote for CAIS, as well as included unpublished stories. In addition to being at the presentation in Casa da Cultura in Setúbal, I also spoke at the 29th Amadora BD, where I participated in the autographs session.
